E. coli Expression Services
If complex post-translation modifications are not required for proper folding and function, bacterial expression is an economical way to produce recombinant proteins.
Kemp Proteins provides protein expression and plasmid production services using numerous commercially available strains of E. coli cells. We produce recombinant proteins at scales that range from 50 mL to 55 liters using shake flasks and stirred-tank fermenters. We offer gene-to-protein services to produce HIV proteins, scFv, enzymes, and mitochondrial and channel proteins. Our team has developed stable isotope labeling protocols to provide labeled protein for NMR studies. We use affinity, ion-exchange, and size exclusion procedures for protein purification. Proteins are dialyzed into PBS or a buffer designated by the client.
Kemp Proteins offers plasmid production to support protein expression using mammalian transient transfection protocols. We produce and purify low-endotoxin, high-purity plasmid in quantities that support expression in the 1-100 liter range (1-100 mg plasmid). Each batch of purified plasmid is tested for endotoxin and examined on agarose gels for purity and supercoiled state.
Please note: To facilitate affinity purification and/or solubility, most antigens produced in bacteria are fused to a tag.
