Facility Description
Our vivarium is a purpose-built modern facility that includes robust control and 24/7 electronic monitoring of environmental conditions. The Temperature Guard system monitors temperature and humidity within the facility and if either falls outside of the control points personnel are contacted via text/ email.
- Temperature – tightly controlled by a dedicated Mitsubishi HVAC system
- Humidity – controlled via modern electronic steam injector humidification
- Air exchanges are regulated using a state of the art ERV system
- The vivarium and all refrigerated units are monitored 24/7
- The result is a tightly controlled environment within the rodent vivarium
Within the vivarium, Kemp uses the Innovive Disposable Individually Ventilated Caging (IVC) System for rodent housing. This system consists of a double-sided IVC rack that is designed to house single use, disposable cages. The Innovive IVC mouse rack offers dual HEPA-filtered ventilation, transversal airflow, positive/negative modes of operation, and a dynamic digital controller with remote management capabilities and provides a high-quality environment. The single use cages arrive as single components double-bagged and irradiated for added biosecurity, and stack compactly to maximize material handling and storage efficiency. All rodents in the Kemp Proteins facility are housed in this equipment.
Additional equipment within the vivarium includes modern cage-changing stations, anesthesiology systems and biosafety cabinets.
Our ISO9001 Quality System controls and monitors all areas of the program through use of controlled Standard Operating Procedures and Data Capture Forms.
